Welcome to CREST.BD’s blog! It’s all about sparking conversations with as many voices as possible. Watch our short introduction:
Every month we will endeavour to blog in our four core areas of focus (more on these areas over here):
- Our “community engagement” category involves community-based participatory research (CBPR), where we’ll hear from peer researchers and a range of other voices from everyday perspectives.
- Our “interventions and self-care” category is where you’ll read about the bulk of our research on psychosocial interventions and self-management; one example of this category is from our Bipolar Youth Action Group on how mindfulness helps manage bipolar disorder.
- Our “quality of life” category is intuitive in the sense that we didn’t have to reword it in order to provide you with a user-friendly synonymous phrase.
- Likewise, our “stigma” category is fairly straightforward — even though self-stigma, social stigma, and structural stigma can be daunting topics at times.
But my hope, as the blog leader, is to make sure everyone can access the knowledge we create here. I want this to be a safe space to explore every facet of bipolar disorder.
In Erin’s words…
My hopes are that it’s a conduit, a lens, into the core work of our network, a way to share process related learnings and reflections and to maximise the impact of our work.
..straight from the email it was written in. We sincerely want to invite the community to walk this journey with us. We have a lot to share, and we recognize that every individual can contribute to the CREST.BD community. So don’t be shy, subscribe, and email us at bipolar.blog@ubc.ca with any thoughts or requests you have for the blog.
