Our team is excited about our flagship psychosocial intervention study: the ORBIT project (Online, Recover-focused, Bipolar Individual Therapy). ORBIT fills an important gap in that it offers a tailored intervention specifically for people who live with bipolar disorder (BD) who have experienced 10 or more mood episodes. This group of people may not respond as well to traditional psychological interventions as people who have experienced fewer mood episodes in the course of their condition.
Dr. Greg Murray of Swinburne University in Australia, lead researcher on ORBIT, and Deputy Lead for CREST.BD talked about the project at Swinburne Mental Health Week (watch his video below), emphasizing its focus on the person as a whole and their well-being, rather than solely on their condition.
βItβs about remembering that the person in front of you is a person first. And they have bipolar disorder second.β
CREST.BD is thrilled to partner with Dr. Murray and the wider international team of ORBIT investigators, which includes people with live with BD.Β We look forward to realising our joint vision of developing new psychosocial treatments for BD which specifically target improved quality of life.
