Today in Amsterdam, Dr. Erin Michalak, as last year’s award winner, had the honour of presenting the 2016 Mogens Schou Advocacy Award to Marylou Selo.
The international reach of Ms. Selo’s work stands out. She is the Co-Founder of the U.S. Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance and the Mood Disorder Support Group of New York, is active in the Global Alliance of Mentally Ill Advocacy Networks, and represents Switzerland at the European Depression Association in Brussels.
Her advocacy work is informed by her own lived experience of BD. Beyond this, her particular dedication to work in suicide prevention and stigma reduction was galvanized by her father’s suicide in 1993, which led her to found the Werner Alfred Selo Foundation in Switzerland.
Congratulations on this prestigious award Marylou, from the international CREST.BD family.
